SHAKE is a community interest company,
we explore Shakespeare,
sharing verse-speaking skills far and wide
and we create readings and performances of all kinds.
We produced our first festival of Shakespeare in October 2019
at The Cut Arts Centre in Halesworth, Suffolk.
The Cut's founder James Holloway invited Jenny Hall to make
a festival based on her verse-workshops, and he named the festival SHAKE.
During the pandemic we produced rehearsed online readings,
watched in 18 countries worldwide, reviewed in the national press
and featured in the New York Times.
Our second festival weekend was held at The Cut in September 2022,
The third was at Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall and Aldeburgh Cinema in October 2023.
Our first full length play was AKENFIELD, which was commissioned from Glenn Wilhide,
directed by Jenny Hall and performed by the people of Suffolk in 2025.
